Go Away Mr. Tumor at Atlantic Times Square

There was a span in the early to mid ’90s when my friend Jeff Briggs and I would drive out to the San Gabriel Valley twice a week to see double features of Hong Kong movies. John Woo, Tsui Hark, Stephen Chow, and Wong Kar-Wai were out of their minds making awesome flicks and we even loved the goofy comedies, sequels, rip-offs, and throwaways. It all ended around the time of the Handover…

This week, I saw Go Away Mr. Tumor at Atlantic Times Square. It was a Mainland movie that reminded me of a mixture of tragic movies like C’est la vie mon cheri as well as silly Wong Jing flicks. Cool! Six dollars and change for a matinee isn’t quite as cheap as a double feature for five bucks but it ain’t bad, either. Next time I have to bring dried mango and tea.

I wrote a review about the super stylish movie with the very awkward title: the626.com/go-away-mr-tumor-thumbs-up-review/

And did I mention the trailer for Office? It’s a musical comedy directed by Johnnie To and starring Chow Yun-Fat and Sylvia Chang. Let’s go!
